Day 3 Gnowangerup to Norseman

Overnight the rain had finished but we have still woken to a cloudy day. After a relatively expensive accommodation and meal night ($200 in total) we did our morning per start checks and after a little bit of turning over she fired ready for the day.

We leave Gnowangerup heading for Jerramungup ( yes nearly everything ends in ‘up’ – means place of water), Ravensthorpe and onto Esperance hopefully for lunch. A stop during the morning at Jerramungup for coffee has revealed a fairly significant oil leave from the front of the bell housing. Check of the engine oil after the break and she was a little down, so in with some Lucas oil stabilizer and more regular checks to follow.

We stopped in Esperance for lunch and a break. Again a check of the oil level and a crawl underneath revealed a reasonable leak. So we topped up with a little more oil and bought another bottle of Lusas stabilizer ready for the next couple of days across the Nullarbor.

During the run of 200km for the afternoon to Norseman she ran well and engine temp didn’t even rise above half way.

Pulled into Norseman at 5pm and found a bed at the Railway Motel. A great old art-deco hotel built in 1939 and although not a pub now it is still in great condition and a lovely room on the top floor. The foyer even still has a little telephone box room near the door.
